The Problem

The existing PDP leaned heavily on a minimal, airy layout that underutilized available space. While visually simple, it lacked structure and clear hierarchy, making it difficult for users to quickly identify key information.

  1. Excessive white space led to poor information density
  2. Weak visual hierarchy made critical details hard to scan
  3. Key bidding and item information lacked prominence
  4. Layout did not effectively guide the user’s eye or decision flow
  5. Important content required unnecessary scrolling or effort to locate

The result was an experience that failed to support fast, confident decision-making — especially in a time-sensitive auction environment.

Goals

  • Simplify and modernize the visual design
  • Improve scannability of key auction details
  • Increase user confidence and trust
  • Create a consistent, scalable UI system
  • Optimize for both desktop and mobile experiences

Solution

To address the lack of structure and inefficient use of space, I focused on creating a more intentional, information-dense layout that improves clarity without sacrificing usability.

The redesign balances visual breathing room with stronger hierarchy — ensuring users can quickly scan, understand, and act.

My Approach

  1. Intentional Layout & Space Utilization
    • I reworked the grid system to better utilize available screen real estate:
    • Reduced unnecessary white space while maintaining readability
    • Introduced a structured, multi-column layout to surface more information above the fold
    • Grouped related content into clearly defined sections
  2. Stronger Visual Hierarchy
    • I established clear prioritization of content through:
    • Scalable typography and weight to differentiate importance
    • Strategic use of color and contrast to highlight key actions
    • Consistent spacing patterns to create rhythm and flow
  3. Scan-First Design
    • The page was redesigned for rapid consumption:
    • Key auction data (current bid, time remaining, bid action) is immediately visible
    • Specs and details are organized into digestible blocks
    • Visual anchors guide the user’s eye from top to action
  4. Persistent Actionability
    • To reduce friction in a time-sensitive environment:
    • Introduced a sticky bidding module that remains accessible at all times
    • Ensured users never lose the ability to act while scrolling

Key Improvements

  • Denser, More Effective Layout: Better use of space allows users to access more critical information without excessive scrolling.
  • Immediate Visibility of Key Info: Bidding details and item highlights are now prioritized and easily scannable.
  • Clear Content Grouping: Information is organized into logical sections, reducing cognitive load.
  • Guided User Flow: Visual hierarchy leads users naturally from exploration → evaluation → bidding.
  • Modernized UI System: Introduced consistency in spacing, typography, and components for a cohesive experience.

Impact

  • Faster user comprehension of key auction details
  • Reduced friction in the bidding process
  • Improved engagement due to better above-the-fold clarity
  • Stronger user confidence through clearer, more structured presentation
